Huawei on Wednesday officially unveiled their flagship high end device, The Ascend P7 a successor to the Ascend P6 which at 6,2mm was billed as the world’s thinnest smartphone ever made.Huawei Technology, the third biggest mobile phone manufacturer after iPhone and Samsung has made a surprise summersault beating competitors with their powerful 8mp front camera.
The 8mp front camera is now the in thing since the recently held Mobile World Congress, a feature mostly associated with those who enjoy taking photos of themselves or groups using the front that has been called the “selfies.”
Speaking during the launch on the front camera, Mr Richard Yu, the chairman of Huawei Device announced that the Huawei Ascend P7 has completely eclipsed other cameras.
Huawei has also come out stronger with a 7 layer surface treatment buoyed with five separate sensors to redefine clarity and high picture quality to put out a total of 13mp on their back camera powered by Sony an industry household name. On processor power, the Huawei P7 with its Quad-core 1.8 GHz Cotex-A lags behind the Samsung S5 which has Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 but is ahead of the iphone 5s that has Dual-core 1.3 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based).
The P7 comes with CAT 4 150mbs download speed capacity, which in an LTE enabled network will take only one minute to download a movie or a file which is 1g in size, unfortunately for most Zimbabweans, LTE is still in trial and may not be available soon for the most people.
Storage is another selling point for the device, the P7 has been launched on 16g storage space plus 2g RAM of operating memory equating with the Samsung S5 while the iPhone 5s bits the dust again.
The screen size is that of a standard smart phone size at 5 inches with the new screen protection of a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 running on Emotion UI 2.3 making it a water resistance and robust against cracks. The P7 also has a range of battery-saving tricks, including various power plans that will disable certain features and gives an estimated time remaining, as well as a low battery mode that sucks the colour out of the screen.
Huawei has not released the price although shipping is expected to begin next month. Huawei has always priced their high end devices way too cheaper than its competitors pitting them on the third most selling smartphone manufacture worldwide a position they have maintained for the past two years.
